STUDENTS SUPPORT SERVICES
Clubs and societies is a Social department domiciled in the Dean of Students office. It is very important for helping the college students interact and carry out their activities effectively in the college.


Guidance & Counseling
Guidance and counseling activities are carried out through the guidance and counseling department under Dean of students’ office. The following programs are executed within mentorship programs.
- Guiding and counseling
- Training of peer counselors or mentors
- Identifying and inviting guest speakers on varied topics such:
- Legal matters
- Academics
- Drug and substance abuse
- Health issues
- Organizing community health week where the following activities are carried out:
- Cancer (Cervical) screening
- HIV counseling and testing
- Treatment of both communicable and non-communicable diseases
- Blood donation
- Health and physical fitness activities
- Team building activities
- Blood sugar and pressure check up
- Talks on varied topics in line with human health
- Arranging fortnight meetings with the peer mentors to review the effectiveness of the mentorship skills.

Mentorship
The college offers the teacher trainees a number of mentorship opportunities, including;
Personal Tutors
Each teacher trainee is paired with a teacher educator who becomes the trainees mentor and role model throughout the trainees stay in Migori Teachers College.
Micro-teaching mentorship
During microteaching the trainees are also assigned specific tutors from the various learning areas to mentor them on the special methods used in those areas and also to guide them on how to apply the microteaching skills in the learning area
School Tutors
Each practicum school is also assigned a Teacher Educator to mentor the teacher trainees posted to that practicum school. The teacher educator ensures the trainees are well prepared and supports them throughout their practicum.
Practicum School mentors
The trainees area also assigned regular teachers at the practicum schools to mentor them during their practicum period. This mentors assist the learners by showing them how to actualize the theory and practice learnt in college in an actual school setting.
Health Unit
The college also offers clinical services to the teacher trainees through the college dispensary. The college health unit is a duly registered health facility maned by a qualified nurse. the facility has the following services;
- Diagnosis
- Resting area (male and female wards)
- Pharmacy
- Family planning
The facility is duly registered with NHIF and receives drugs from KEMSA
