ABOUT MIGORI TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE
The college admitted its first cohort of P1 students in 1983. They were 258: 114 male and 144 female. The first Principal of the college was Mr. Japheth Makau Wambua (1982 – 1984) while the Deputy Principal was Mr. Albert Ogut (1982 – 1989). The first Chairman – Board of Management was Amb. Leo P. Odero (1983 – 2008). The first Chairman of the Student Representative Council was Mr. Alfred Gretha (1983 – 1985).
The college is situated in Migori Town, Migori County along Kisii – Isebania road. Due to its location, the college hosts many forums and social activities hence contributing to the social and economic development of Migori County and beyond.
The college admits students from all parts of Kenya. Since its inception in 1982, the college has produced thousands of qualified teachers for primary schools. Initially, the mandate of the college was to train P1 teachers for primary schools. Due to changes in education policy, the college is currently training Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE), Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and qualified P1 certificate holders who have come to upgrade to Diploma. It is also a center for training teachers in Special Needs Education managed by the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).

1. Moi Girls Eldoret - 1990 to 1995 where he produced good results in Kiswahili, he was also assistant C.U Patron.
2. Kakamega High School – 1995 to 2007. In Kakamega High School Mr. Chivile produced some of the best results in Kiswahili.
3. Eregi Teachers Training College from 2009 – to 2015. While at Eregi TTC he served as the dean of Curriculum where during his tenure Eregi produced some of the excellent results in P.T.E. among the Teacher Training Colleges.
4. He was the first registrar at Lugari Diploma Teachers Training College in 2016.
5. He served as an exemplary deputy principal at St. John’s Kilimambogo Teachers training College from 2017 to 2019.
6. He is a competent administrator and educationist having produced good results in curricular and co- curricular Activities. He served as a principal at Shanzu Teachers Training College from 2019 to May, 2022 where the college in exclude in Drama at National level in 2021 from Shaloom Bible College (U.S.A)
- Served as the Principal of Ugenya T.T.C as from May, 2023 to August 2024 when he was transferred to Migori Teachers Training College.
- While at Ugenya Teachers Training College, the college registered the best results in Academic and co-curricular activities especially in Music and athletics.
- Mr. John Chivile is an ordained Minister of the gospel since 2001. He is the founder and vision bearer of Eagle messenger Ministries in Kakamega.
- Mr. John Chivile is committed Christian who values family life, integrity and loves dispensing Justice. He brings on godly leadership wherever he goes.

ICT Department - the Department comprises of two main sections, the teaching section and the IT support section. He heads both sections handling the teaching of ICT Integration in Education and support to all departments in terms of User Devices, Network Support, System Support among other IT related duties.
Performance Contracting - He is also the Performance Contract coordinator and heads the Performance Contracting Unit. The unit is responsible for preparing, monitoring, coordinating and reporting on performance contracting issues for the college.
Time Tabling - he is also the college time-table master and is responsible for preparing the college master timetable.
